NBC 5 is airing the 2015 Miss Texas Scholarship Competition on COZI-TV (Digital 5.2) Saturday, July 11 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. The program streams simultaneously on NBCDFW.com.
The final 2015 Miss Texas competition, presented by the Miss Texas Scholarship Foundation, was on July 4, 2015.
This year marks the 80th crowning of Miss Texas. Over 100 participants from across the state competed in various competitions including talent, swimsuit, interview, photogenic and a popular vote. Miss Texas awards over $1,000,000 in scholarships, awards and prizes annually to young Texas women.
The new Miss Texas, Miss Fort Worth Shannon Sanderford, will compete in the Miss America competition in September in Atlantic City, New Jersey . Texas has had three women win the title of Miss America.
Sanderford also embarks on a 12-month speaking tour, a process requiring her to be dedicated, articulate and of good character.
