Two months after distributing 10,0000 recycling bins, Mesquite residents are embracing the effort.
The city of Mesquite reports recycling doubled in areas with the new bins.
Mesquite's Solid Waste workers will continue to monitor the pilot program for the next few months to determine if it should be expanded to other neighborhoods.
Mesquite bought the bins using grant money frm the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and provided them for free to residents to encourage recycling.
