On Monday, the city of Mesquite city council expanded the city's smoking ban.
Now, smoking will be prohibited in most public places, with the exception being bingo halls and tobacco stores.
A task force had been researching expanding the ban since last December and determined that many people supported tighter regulations.
The more restrictive ordinance was unanimously approved by the all-present city council
The new ban takes effect June 14.
