A Mesquite police officer is on paid leave following an indictment alleging he injured a 14-year-old girl.
The officer, 34-year-old Daniel Higginson, allegedly pulled the victim's arms behind her back and yanked on them, according to court documents filed last month in Kaufman County.
Higginson also allegedly sat on the girl's stomached and pushed on it. The exact details surrounding the incident are unclear, but the indictment said it happened on Aug. 9, 2015.
The Mesquite Police Department placed Higginson on leave about a week ago. He surrendered to authorities and posted bond on Wednesday.
