Men Linked to Deaths of Austin Woman, Elderly Couple

Two men who are suspects in the December death of an Austin choir director are being linked to the killings of an elderly couple about a week later.

Police Chief Art Acevedo said Friday that investigators are "very confident" 30-year-old Shawn Gant-Benalcazar and 49-year-old Timothy Parlin are responsible for the deaths.

Authorities say Gant-Benalcazar has admitted to killing Kathy Blair, who led a choral society, when she found him burglarizing her home Dec. 6.

The bodies of Sidney and Billie Shelton were later found in their home. Acevedo says Parlin has admitted driving Gant-Benalcazar to both homes.

Gant-Benalcazar is charged with capital murder and being held at the Travis County jail. Parlin is incarcerated there on burglary and other charges.

Online records do not indicate attorneys for the two.
