MegaFest Kicks Off Thursday in Dallas

Thousands of people are expected in Downtown Dallas Thursday for the start of MegaFest.

Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings and former U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison joined Bishop T.D. Jakes of Dallas' The Potter's House Church to officially welcome the massive four-day celebration.

This year is the second year for Dallas to host the event, the first time was in 2013 and an estimated 75,000 people attended. This year, another 10,000 are expected to attend.

Though the event is a Christian-based event, organizers said they believe everyone in Dallas could find something at the festival to enjoy.

This year's schedule includes a golf tournament, film festival, a comedy show, a play by Tyler Perry and more than two dozen speakers. Click here to see the entire schedule.

MegaFest runs Thursday through Sunday, Aug. 19-23.
