Juan Valdez makes a mess o’ margaritas.
The longtime bartender at Blue Goose Cantina on Lower Greenville Avenue in Dallas started pouring libations at the restaurant 24 years ago. Tex-Mex and margaritas go together like chips and salsa, and Valdez is set to serve the 1 millionth of that concoction that helps us hang on this month.
According to Blue Goose math — and they showed their work in a press release — Valdez “works (roughly) 5 days a week, he pours an average of 160 margaritas per shift, there are 52 weeks in year — in Blue Goose arithmetic: X equals a millionth pour by Sept. 22.” Apparently they don’t give vacation time there.
Anyway, they’re sticking to that Sept. 22 date and will offer $3 margaritas all day at all locations. The Lower Greenville patron who orders the golden beverage receives a restaurant gift card good for $500, which will buy, assuming a regular price of, oh, $5 … hang on, hang on, math takes awhile … approximately 329 margaritas.
