Marital Dispute Leads to Crash Into Home, Fatal Shooting in Houston

Police say a marital dispute has resulted in a woman striking a home with her vehicle and then her husband being fatally shot by the owner of the damaged home.

Houston police said the couple had argued at a party early Sunday morning when the woman fled. When she struck the home, the owner retrieved a handgun and went outside. He called 911 and began aiding the woman.

Police say the woman's husband soon followed and the homeowner, not knowing the man and fearing for his safety, ordered him to stop. When the husband continued to approach, he was shot. He later died at a hospital.

Authorities said Monday the incident has been referred to a Harris County grand jury.

Police did not release the names of the people involved.

Last week, a Cedar Hill man was arrested after police said he became angry after an argument and intentionally slammed his car into his home, trapping his wife in the rubble.  The woman was freed and hospitalized; the man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
