Mansfield police say Kansas Highway Patrol troopers arrested a slain woman's boyfriend Thursday afternoon after a short chase and car crash.
On July 21, police said officers responding to a welfare check in the 600 block of Kingsway Dr. found 23-year-old DeVon De La Rosa dead inside the couple's apartment.
Based on information received at the scene, police started looking for Anthony Raymont Ford, 27, as a person of interest.
At 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon the Kansas Highway Patrol recognized a vehicle matching the black 2004 two-door Pontiac Grand Am GT Mansfield Police said Ford was driving.
Police say when troopers attempted to stop the car, Ford fled. After a short pursuit, police say Ford wrecked on Interstate 35 near the Kansas/Oklahoma border.
The chase reached speeds of 110 to 120 mph before Ford's vehicle left the road, flipped onto its top and caught fire. Ford is under guard at a Wichita hospital while being treated for his injuries.
No one else was hurt.
