Police said the body of a black male, identified Friday as 19-year-old Jarrod Dewayne Black, was found inside a 2004 Nissan Altima in the 100 block of Forestbrook Drive shortly after noon.
“We don’t believe it’s a random act of violence because it appears the suspects were inside of the vehicle when the shooting occurred, so it’s not like we have a random person targeting vehicles,” said Capt. Kevin Deaver with the Lewisville Police Department.
Witnesses told police they saw two people run away from the vehicle after the shooting and flee into a nearby wooded area. A witness described the pair as either two black men or a black man and woman.
Officers, along with the K9 unit from the Little Elm Police Department, searched the area, but the pair were not located.
“The perimeter is somewhat porous in nature. We have a lot of apartment complexes that back up to the wooded area, so it’s possible that they made an exit through an apartment complex where they blended in with other people,” Deaver said. "So, we think that’s how they probably got out of the area.”
Investigators have revealed no motive for the slaying and have not named any suspects in the investigation.
