Web Site Offering Deals to Wife Beaters KO-ed

Man's persistent complaints finally tanks site

A San Antonio man says he is proud to have finally knocked out a Dallas-based Web site that promised discounts on "wife beaters" to men who could show proof of beating their wives, the Dallas Morning News reports.

Patrick Green was curious to know what wife beaters were, so he did a search online and found the Web site, which sold the infamous white tank tops and promised a discount to anyone who could prove that they had been convicted of beating their wife.

Patrick Greene said he was so offended that he spent weeks searching for ways to shut down the business.  He complained to the FBI, the attorney general's office, the Better Business Bureau and register.com -- the host for the domain -- with no luck.

He finally found success when he contacted register.com's parent company, Cbeyond.com. It shut the Web site down Friday within hours of his complaint.

“I felt like I was helping thousands of women,” Green told the Dallas Morning News.
