Man Suspected of Killing Another at Austin Group Home

Police said a man is charged with murder in the death of another man who lived in the same north Austin group home.

Authorities booked 38-year-old Ghamal Webb into the Travis County Jail Tuesday with bail set at $75,000. Online jail records didn't list an attorney for him on Thursday.

Officers said they found 62-year-old Ben Thompson Jr. unresponsive at the home Monday night. Thompson was pronounced dead almost an hour later.

Police said Thompson and Webb lived in separate rooms at the group home and had been placed there by Caritas of Austin, which helps people affected by poverty and homelessness.

A spokeswoman for Caritas of Austin declined to discuss Thompson's death.

Further details weren't released.
