The Denton County Sheriff's Office says a child reported as missing Wednesday night was taken at the request of a parent and wasn't kidnapped. [[301798781,C]]
Thursday morning the sheriff's department issued a statement that said, "It wasn't a kidnapping. The child was taken at the request of a custodial parent."
Police were contacted Wednesday night after 9 p.m. on a report that a man took 5-year-old Adrian Reyes from a home on the 9000 block of Cedar Lane.
Reyes' sister was also in the house at the time. Authorities said the fact that she wasn't taken suggests the boy was targeted.
An Amber Alert was never issued because, at the time, it wasn't clear who took the child and if he was in immediate danger.
Officials now say the boy and his sister are "in the possession of their uncle," Pedro Quintero, and no criminal charges will be filed against Quintero.
