Man Run Over, Killed While Dropping Off Trash in Galveston

Galveston police say a man dropping off trash at a garbage transfer station has died after being run over by a front end loader.

Police did not immediately release the name of the man who died at the scene Tuesday afternoon.

The Galveston County Daily News reports the victim was run over while getting out of his vehicle to unload some trash.

Galveston police spokesman Michael Gray says no charges have been filed in the apparent accident.

The transfer station is owned by the city and open to the public. The property is leased and operated by Republic Services. A company manager says the victim was not a Republic Services worker.
