Man Putting Gas in Truck Fatally Struck on Bush Turnpike in Garland

A man was killed and a driver could face charges after a fatal crash that shut down parts of President George Bush Turnpike in Garland early Thursday morning, police say.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said the man was struck at about 1 a.m. as he poured fuel into a blue Ford F-150 disabled on the PGBT shoulder near Firewheel Parkway.

Investigators said a Cadillac MKS sedan headed east on the PGBT side-swiped a Toyota pickup parked behind the Ford before striking the man.

The man was transported to Methodist Richardson Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased, according to authorities.

The person in the Toyota and the Cadillac driver were not seriously injured.

Texas DPS officials said they think the Cadillac driver was under the influence and that charges are pending.
