Man on Phone Killed in Gunfire Across the Street From Him

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man described as being caught in the crossfire of people exchanging gunfire from their cars in a grocery store parking lot.

Authorities say 42-year-old Jason Jolley was outside a car wash across the street from the parking lot and taking a phone call Sunday night when he was hit.

Police say the shooting began when one driver passing the lot opened fire on others parked in the lot.

Some of people in the parked cars had just attended a nearby block party.

Police say so many shots were fired they ran out of markers that investigators use to show where they found shell casings.

It's not immediately clear if anyone else was hurt.
