A Dallas County man who was injured when a Dallas Area Rapid Transit bus rear-ended him has filed a lawsuit seeking damages.
Jose Sepulveda was sitting in traffic in the Dallas North Tollway's southbound exit lane to Interstate 35 on June 29 when the paratransit bus plowed into his car, causing a five-vehicle pileup.
Sepulveda's lawsuit seeks damages for personal, emotional, economic and personal injuries and medical expenses.
The latest news from around North Texas.
The lawsuit claims negligence on the part of bus driver, Willie Grant, of Dallas, and DART's paratransit operator, Veolia Transportation.
Veolia fired Grant in July.
Firefighters had to cut Sepulveda from his car with the jaws of life. He continues to physically suffer and is in therapy addressing his injuries.
Sepulveda's lawsuit does not specify an amount in damages.
Veolia Transportation would not comment on the lawsuit.
A DART representative said Veolia's contract expires at the end of this month. The agency will hire a new contractor as part of competitive bidding that took place in January, not as a result of the June crash.
