A man was hospitalized after his truck caught fire in Fort Worth Monday night, officials said. The extent of his injuries is unclear.
When fire crews got to the scene in the 1000 block of Oak Grove Road about 9:15 p.m., they sawvegetation that was up to 6 feet tall and it was initially reported as a grass fire, Fort Worth fire officials said. The firefighters made their way to where the fire was, about 100 yards from the road, and saw the truck, officials said. The grass was also on fire around the truck.
As crews worked the fire, they saw the driver of the vehicle down a small embankment, officials said. The driver did not have injuries related to the fire and it did not appear to be a vehicle accident.
Crews were quickly able to extinguish the flames. Police and fire crews were investigating. The arson investigation prelimarily determined that it was accidental.
