Dozens of people gathered Wednesday evening for a vigil in honor of a Dallas man who was gunned down in the driveway outside his parents' home.
Juan Trevino Jr., 25, was sitting in the driver's seat of a vehicle in the driveway of a home on the 11800 block of Dorchester Drive at about 2:35 a.m. when three people approached him, authorities said.
Police said one of the three shot Trevino in the chest.
Family friends said it’s possible the suspects followed Trevino home from a nearby ATM.
The Rev. Marco Luna, the family's pastor, said Trevino told his father at about 1 a.m. he forgot to deposit money for his motorcycle payment and asked to borrow his mom’s car to drive to the ATM.
About an hour later, Luna said the Trevinos woke up to a neighbor pounding on their front door, saying their son had been shot in the driveway.
Luna said the suspects took Trevino’s wallet, keys and phone.
His parents rushed outside to find their son shot in the chest.
“She said when they ran to the car the husband right away tried to see if he had a pulse. He still had a pulse but he was not conscious. He would not respond to them yelling or asking if he was okay,” said Luna’s wife, Kimberly Luna.

The parents held their son as they waited for an ambulance to arrive.
“She just said she kissed him and hugged him and that the dad kissed him and hugged him, but there was no response,” Kimberly Luna said.
Juan Trevino, whom his family and friends called "Junior," was taken to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital where he died from his injuries, authorities said.
They said the young man had re-dedicated his life to Christ this past Sunday.
“I know that time will come and we will meet again. It's not goodbye. It's 'see you later,'" his mother, Sandra Trevino, told mourners at the vigil.
Police are continuing to look for the three people who they think drove away from the scene after the shooting. They said robbery appears to be the motive.
