Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to a structure fire call in the 2400 block of San Medina Avenue at about 3:15 a.m. Firefighters arrived to find a detached garage with heavy fire.

While attacking the fire, Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said firefighters found the body of an adult male inside. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Dallas Fire Department Battalion Chief David Kinney said several obstacles made it tough for firefighters to put out the fire.

"The garage was a little difficult to get to with a truck parked in the way," he said. "We had a narrow passage way through there. When we got to the back had a fence to contend with."

The garage had been converted into a living area and the victim was an occupant, Evans said. The garage was a total loss and primary residence sustained moderate damage.

Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the fire.
