Man Forces Way Into Home, Sexually Assaults Woman

Dallas police are seeking assistance in finding the man who sexually assaulting a woman near Lower Greenville Avenue on Friday evening.

The attack occurred in the 5800 block of Martel Avenue at about 6:45 p.m.

The details of the assault are strikingly similar to another rape that occurred not far away one week earlier, but police are not officially linking the two.

The attacker knocked on the woman's door, forced his way in at gunpoint and sexually assaulted her, police said. The man then stole a cellphone and beer from her refrigerator.

Police said the man was skinny, Latino, about 21 years old, 5 feet 5 inches tall and 140 pounds, with spiked 1-inch black hair and a tattoo on his right arm. He was wearing shiny black shoes, a green shirt, blue jeans and large diamond earrings on Friday, police said.

"I believe she just moved in recently -- very nice young lady, vivacious," neighbor Mary MacCammon said. "I'm shocked."

"It's hard to believe," Randy Stanley said. "We're right close to the business district here. It's a real homey place to live. It's very quiet, so I just can't believe it."

On Aug. 31, another woman was sexually assaulted in the 5400 block of Gaston Avenue at 10:20 a.m.

In that incident, a man also forced his way in a gunpoint and sexually assaulted the victim, before taking a video game machine and assorted meats from the victim's refrigerator, police said.

Police urge residents to positively identify anyone knocking at the door and to call 911 if they suspect trouble.

Anyone with information about the attacks may call the Dallas Police Sexual Assault Unit at 214-671-3584.
