Divers have recovered the body of a driver who leaped from his vehicle following a Houston-area pursuit, jumped into the San Jacinto River and went under.
Houston police say the man's body was found early Thursday. His name was not immediately released.
Investigators say the man was believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run accident Wednesday night in nearby Humble. The suspect's vehicle sped from the scene.
Lt. Larry Crowson says officers closed in on the vehicle, then the driver jumped from a highway overpass and into the San Jacinto River.
