Investigators said officers were called to a burglary in progress at a home in the 4000 block of Miami Springs Drive at about 8:30 a.m.

A resident told police he and his family were home when two men kicked in their front door. Police say someone who lives at the home opened fire shooting one of the men, now identified as 16-year-old Kevin Brown from Fort Worth.

When officers arrived, they found Brown's body lying in the driveway of a home near the reported burglary. At least one more person is believed to have left the neighborhood driving a black Mazda, police said.

Fort Worth police are investigating a fatal shooting after a homeowner reportedly opened fire on two suspected home invaders.

Police have not said if the burglary suspects got away with anything or if they were armed.

Brown's family members arrived at the scene Tuesday morning looking for more information, and returned again later in the afternoon. A man, who identified himself as Brown's father, told NBC 5 his son has a 1-year-old son.

The investigation into the case continues, and police say at this point no charges have been filed.
