Reno police responded to a call about shots fired at a home in the 100 block of West Reno Road at about 7:15 p.m. The responding officers requested assistance from the Parker County Sheriff's Office.

After a perimeter was established, Parker County Sherrif's Deputy Danie Huffman said they determined that the man โ€” identified as 32-year-old Ronnie Lee Padron โ€” had barricaded himself inside the home. Padron fired a weapon from the house at least twice during the standoff.

During the investigation, deputies said they determined that Padron had an active warrant for his arrest and would not surrender.

Authorities said they tried to use chemicals to flush Padron out of the home. He exited the home with what deputies said looked like a rifle pointed at officers. Members of the Weatherford-Parker County Special Operations Group fired at the man and struck him.

Padron was rushed to Harris Methodist Hospital, where authorities said he was pronounced dead at 10:37 p.m.

The Texas Rangers were notified to conduct an investigation.
