Firefighters responded to the home in the 2800 block of Finley Street at about 12:30 a.m. Friday and found the one-story house under heavy fire.

Firefighters went into the home and found the man and dog after neighbors told them that a person was inside. Both were dead when firefighters found them, authorities said.

Fort Worth Fire Department arson and bomb investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire and the reported blast, officials said. Investigators said they did not find any smoke detectors in the house.

Fort Worth police are also conducting a potential crime scene investigation, which is protocol in fire fatalities.

The victim's identity has not yet been released.
