The Federal Aviation Administration says lightning struck four commercial airliners near Houston airports, but no one was injured.

The Houston Chronicle reports that the four flights were hit within two hours of one another during heavy thunderstorms Friday. Two flights had just taken off from Bush Intercontinental Airport, while two others were hit before landing at Hobby Airport.

United Flight 1007 was flying to Bogota, Colombia, when the pilot reported the strike about 5 p.m. and turned back to Bush Intercontinental.

ExpressJet Flight 4637, bound for Mobile, Ala., was hit about 35 miles northeast of Houston and safely returned to Intercontinental.

Two flights from Atlanta to Houston -- Delta Flight 1832 and AirTran Airways Flight 297 -- were struck about 6 p.m., just before arrival. Both landed safely.
