Light Snow, Deicing Delays Hundreds of Flights Into DFW

Travelers in and out of Dallas-Fort Worth are recommended to check the status of their flights Thursday before heading to the airport.

Some flights in and out of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport are behind schedule due to light snow and de-icing procedures.

On their Twitter account, DFW Airport tweeted at about 9:30 a.m. that the snow was not significantly impacting operations at the airport, though some outbound flights may be delayed due to de-icing.

Several times throughout the morning, the Federal Aviation Administration has instituted a temporary ground stop at DFW due to gate issues related to de-icing.  The ground stop is a traffic management program that delays departure times for inbound flights. When a ground stop is in place, planes already in the air are allowed to continue to their destination while those that have not departed are held at their departure airport.

According to FlightAware.com, at about 5:30 p.m., the following number of flights have been either delayed or canceled at DFW and Love Field.

DFW Outbound Cancellations: 195
DFW Outbound Delays: 394
Love Outbound Cancellations: 3
Love Outbound Delays: 59
DFW Inbound Cancellations: 209
DFW Inbound Delays: 363
Love Inbound Cancellations: 5
Love Inbound Delays: 58

Travelers are recommended to check the status of their flight before heading to either airport.
