Members of the Lewisville police and fire departments are scheduled to participate in an active-shooter drill Tuesday morning at Valley Ridge Elementary School.[[387338561, R]]
People who live near the school, on the 1600 block of North Garden Ridge Boulevard, will receive an automated phone call from the city, alerting them to the drill so they will be prepared for a large police and fire presence.
The drill will begin at 9 a.m. and should be finished by 11 a.m., officials said.
It's the second of three annual training exercises, and the objective is to help the officers and firefighters improve their preparedness should an event like this actually happen in Lewisville.
Another drill is scheduled for August.
