A human smuggler linked to a Houston stash house where more than 100 immigrants were rescued must serve nearly 13 years in a U.S. prison.
Homero Gonzalez-Carranza of Mexico was sentenced Thursday in Corpus Christi in the 2014 case. He and two others pleaded guilty or were convicted on counts related to conspiracy to harbor and transport illegal immigrants.
Prosecutors say the 30-year-old Gonzalez-Carranza, while living in Houston, was a boss in the ring operating since 2007.
The March 19, 2014, case in Houston involved 115 immigrants found in a 1,400-square-foot house with boarded windows and doors.
A judge on Thursday also sentenced 26-year-old Eduardo Luis Pompa of Houston to more than five years in prison. Officials say 46-year-old Lisa Quintanilla of Premont received a nearly three-year prison term.
