Could Central Expressway get yet another name?
Rep. Dan Branch, R-Dallas, has sponsored a bill that would designate a portion of U.S. 75 as President George W. Bush Expressway.
House Bill 3520 would rename the portion of the highway from Interstate 30 to Park Lane.
The bill states that the designation would be "in addition to any other designation" -- so the highway would also still be known as U.S. 75 and Central Expressway.
Confusingly, it would also be the second highway in Dallas County to be named for a President Bush. The toll road President George Bush Turnpike was named for former President George H.W. Bush.
