Lake Dallas' Daryl Williams is Super Bowl Bound

Although the Dallas Cowboys aren't going to the Super Bowl, fans in Lake Dallas have a reason to tune in.

Daryl Williams graduated from Lake Dallas High School in 2010 and now plays professionally for the Carolina Panthers.

"When Daryl was here, he was kind of a skinny kid," said Lake Dallas football coach Mike Young. "He was a basketball player. We had to twist his arm to get him to stay with football."

Young coached Williams through all four years of high school.

Photos of Williams still line the Lake Dallas field house, where current football players work out.

"Everybody knows Daryl. He's known around here as 'Big Nasty.' That's his nickname, even though he's far from that," Young said.

Young said Williams' success is a source of pride for the school and makes it easy to motivate students.

"There are guys who play in the NFL for years, Hall of Famers that don't get Super Bowl rings, so he has quite an opportunity," he said.
