He returns after spending three years as a morning news anchor at WBBM-TV in Chicago. In 2014, the morning team won an Emmy for a newscast that Kris field anchored after a tornado touched down. That same year Kris was nominated for an Emmy as best news anchor.

Prior to his time in Chicago, Kris spent five years as a national correspondent for FOX News Channel based in the network’s Dallas bureau. He was the sole reporter responsible for all editorial content in a four state region that included Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana.

Kris covered some of the biggest news events in the southwest region.

In 2008, he reported from the FLDS Yearning for Zion Ranch in El Dorado, TX. Shortly after the FBI raided the polygamist sect ranch, Kris was on the air with live coverage of breaking developments, in what became the largest custody case in US history. Child Protective Services removed every child from the ranch founded by sect leader Warren Jeffs.

In 2009, Kris reported live from Ft. Hood, less than 24 hours after the deadliest shooting rampage at a military instillation in US history.

In 2010, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal took Kris up in a helicopter for an exclusive tour of the sensitive wetlands and marshes that were impacted by the BP oil spill. Kris spent nearly three months in Louisiana monitoring the fallout from the worst oil spill in U.S. history. His interview with former BP CEO, Tony Hayward, made national headlines when he told Kris, "I'd like my life back." The New York Times later reported that television network executives said Kris was among the "stand-outs" in the oil spill coverage.

In 2011, Kris spent a week covering the devastating EF-5 tornado that hit Joplin, MO.

On occasion, Kris was also called to file live reports from other parts of the country. He previewed the next generation space rocket from an assembly plant in Utah, covered wild fires in California, rode out hurricanes along the Gulf Coast and provided extensive coverage from the Texas-Mexico border, chronicling the rising tension and bloody turf wars between rival drug cartels.

Prior to his network experience he was an Emmy-award winning reporter/substitute anchor at KPRC-TV in Houston. While there Kris was named the Best Television Reporter in Texas by Texas Associated Press Broadcasters. He was also named a Top Television Journalist by the Houston Press Club. His story telling also earned the Best Live Report award from the Dallas Press Club.

He’s won nearly a dozen Lone Star Emmys, a Regional Edward R. Murrow award for a series of reports about the Texas-Mexico border, and been named Best News Anchor by the Texas Association of Broadcasters.

Kris was also a reporter/substitute anchor at KVUE-TV in Austin, TX. While in Austin his reports were honored with several Texas Associated Press Broadcaster awards. The American Cancer Society also recognized his work.

Previously Kris was a weekend anchor at WKBN-TV in Youngstown, OH and he began his career with the same position at KXII-TV in Sherman, TX.

He graduated from Lewisville High School where he played four years of varsity soccer for the Fighting Farmers. In 2013, Kris became the youngest person ever inducted into the Lewisville High School Hall Of Fame. Among the inductees is former Dallas Cowboy and Super Bowl champion Walt Garrison.

Kris arned a BS in Broadcast Journalism at Texas Christian University and played Division One collegiate soccer for the Horned Frogs. He’s still very active in the TCU community, sitting on the Board of Volunteers at the Bob Schieffer College of Communication and co-hosting TCU Soccer podcasts with head coach Eric Bell.

Known by colleagues for wearing boots with his suits, you will often find Kris, his wife, and their two children volunteering at local events and supporting the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, Texas Rangers, FC Dallas and Dallas Stars.
