A loaded gun was confiscated from a kindergarten student in East Texas while he was on a school bus headed to classes.
Brownsboro Independent School District assistant superintendent Vicki York said Thursday's incident in Chandler involved a pistol and a 6-year-old boy. Relatives said the child's grandfather had the gun.
York said a bus monitor and the driver overheard some children talking about the gun in the boy's backpack.
The weapon was seized before the bus reached campus. Nobody was injured.
KLTV-TV reports the boy, who attends Chandler Elementary School, was sent home and has been suspended until the school can decide his punishment. His name was not released.
Law enforcement officials have been notified.
