Killeen Officer Fired, Charged with Sexual Assault

A Central Texas police officer has been arrested on sexual assault and official oppression charges in an investigation that's led to his firing.

Killeen police on Wednesday announced the dismissal of Officer Christopher R. Morris after a Bell County grand jury indicted him on two felony counts. Jail records show the 28-year-old Morris was being held Thursday on $200,000 bond.

Police in late 2015 were notified of a possible sexual assault of a woman last June in a case allegedly involving an officer. The indictment says Morris made unwanted sexual advances while acting as a Killeen police officer.

Morris was placed on administrative leaving during the investigation, then fired June 6 for violating department orders and civil service regulations.

Online jail records don't list an attorney to speak for Morris.
