A woman formerly of Keller with no formal cooking training is the Food Network's newest star.
Melissa D'Arabian, a stay-at-home mother of four preschool girls, called herself an underdog in the battle to win the fifth season of "The Next Food Network Star."
"I think the fact that I'm not "supermom" makes me accessible," D'Arabian said on the show's Web site. "I want parents across America to breathe a sigh of relief when they see me on TV and to say to themselves, 'If she can do it, then so can I.'"
D'Arabian, 40, said her life experience allows her to relate to single career women, as well as working and stay-at-home parents.
Now she's adding a new title to her list of accomplishments: host of her own show.
"The Kitchen Survival Guide" promises easy to follow budget-friendly recipes and debuts Sunday at 11:30 a.m. on the Food Network.
D'arabian and her family moved to Seattle in June.
