Jury Selected for Tammy Lowe Hit-and-Run Trial

Former teacher Tammy Lowe with soon learn her fate. Jurors have been selected for her trial after a daylong procedure Monday.

The 54-year-old Lowe allegedly ran a red light on Jan. 24, 2013, at the 1100 block of North Carrier Parkway in Grand Prairie.

Investigators said she struck 6-year-old John Paul Raidy, who was crossing the street with his mother and sister.

Police said the first grader landed on the hood of Lowe's car and the collision carried him about 100 yards before dropping him off on the pavement.

The boy died later at a nearby hospital.

Lowe drove away from the scene and then turned herself in five days later, police said.

On Monday, a large group of potential jurors filled the Criminal District Court Five for hours, and court officials said evidence part of the trial will begin Tuesday morning at 9 a.m.

The trial is expected to last through Thursday or Friday.
