Irving police have revealed the identity of a man fatally shot by a police officer investigating reports of a car burglary at an apartment complex.
Police say 28-year-old Aaron Olivarez Candanoza of Cleveland, Texas, had outstanding warrants on firearms and money laundering charges.
An Irving police statement says officers responded to an apartment complex early Monday after a witness reported seeing a man breaking into a vehicle in the parking lot. Police say officers arrived as a suspect got into a pickup truck and tried to flee.
Police say the suspect's truck rammed a police car and several other vehicles in the lot. Investigators say an officer, fearing for his life, shot Candanoza, who died at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.
Irving police said no officers were injured.
