Police said 19-year-old Jordan Landaverde, of Lewisville, crashed into the vehicles at the scene, killing Weems. Two passersby who stopped to help were not hurt.

Authorities said Interstate 35E is closed due to a deadly crash in Carrollton Monday morning.

Officers took the driver and a passenger, who both tried to run, into custody.
