Internal Audit Finds Problems with Marketing Payments in DISD

A Dallas ISD internal investigation found instances in which marketing companies were paid in full before their work was done with the district.

Deputy Chief of Staff Justin Coppedge called an early payment of $150,000 to a marketing agency an “unintentional mistake,” according to the report. The district also made full payments to three other vendors, totaling $83,500, before receiving promised deliverables, the report states.

Coppedge also relayed incorrect information about payments to the Board of Trustees, the report says. “He had a duty to exercise due diligence to ensure the reliability of the information he provided to trustees,” it says.
