ID Sought on Woman Found Dead Near I-20 in Texas

Authorities are trying to identify the body of a woman found near Interstate 20 in East Texas after some drivers mistakenly thought they saw a mannequin.

The Harrison County Sheriff's Office has asked for the public's help to identify the partly clothed body discovered Monday afternoon near Hallsville.

Lt. Jay Webb says the body does not have any visible wounds. An autopsy has been ordered. Investigators are treating the death as a homicide.

Webb says two truckers who pulled off the road, about 2 miles south of Hallsville, to inspect their tires reported finding what they at first thought was a mannequin. Investigators are trying to determine whether the woman was killed elsewhere and then her body was dumped.

The area is about 130 miles east of Dallas.
