Ice Storm Left 800,000 Without Power: Oncor

Oncor has significantly increased their estimate of how many of their customers lost power during the ice storm that recently crippled the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

During a hearing in Austin on Thursday, the energy delivery company raised the estimate number to 800,000 customers that lost power at some time during the storm.

Initially, Oncor reported about 265,000 customers had lost power -- about three times lower than the new total.

The company called the ice storm that froze the area for six days "the worst winter storm they ever faced" and the second worst storm it has ever dealt with when including tornado devastation.
