It's Ice Cream Sandwich Day, How Appropriate

Commentary

Proving yet again that there is a national day of recognition for practically everything, today marks National Ice Cream Sandwich Day.

It might just be an arbitrary de facto “official” national day, though, because researchers, assuming they have researchers, at HolidayInsights.com failed to dig up any Congressional record or Presidential proclamation designating Aug. 2 as National Ice Cream Sandwich Day. Just something else Congress failed to act upon despite the wants and needs of the American public.

Being a traditionalist, I prefer the Borden’s variety but now we have choices among so many variations, probably including an iScream from Apple.

Anyway, it seems poetically fitting since today’s forecast high is 109, or 108 depending on the high pressure prognosticator.

But that just adds to the challenge, right? The trick here is to quickly and neatly eat — ha, compound split infinitive, there, boss man — an ice cream sandwich before it melts but not so fast that you bring on brain freeze.

Up to the challenge? One … two … three … go.
