Major demolition planned for this weekend on I-635, the LBJ Express freeway, has been postponed to a later date.
Demolition of the Joe Ratcliff pedestrian bridge over the freeway was scheduled to begin on Saturday, but concerns about safety have stalled the project.
“Safety is our number one concern on this project,” said Lara Kohl, public relations manager with Trinity Infrastructure said in a press release. “Other methods for the demolition are being analyzed to improve the demolition process under the safest possible conditions for the traveling public and the crews.”
All lanes of I-635 (LBJ) will operate as normal this weekend.
The delay in the pedestrian bridge demolition won't postpone other scheduled demolition or construction on the freeway. The Monfort, Marsh and Rosser bridges are all scheduled for demolition operations before Oct. 17.
