Interstate 30 Shut Down in Arlington Due to Downed Power Lines

The east and westbound lanes of Interstate 30 in Arlington reopened Wednesday afternoon after downed power lines forced officials to close the highway for nearly two hours.[[408528215,C]]

Both directions of the Tom Landry Freeway near Ballpark Way were reopened to traffic shortly before 1:30 p.m. Though the highway has reopened, Oncor said 17 customers remain without power.

Arlington police said a construction crane fell onto the power lines at 11:22 a.m., knocking the cables onto a stretch of I-30 adjacent to Six Flags Over Texas.

Westbound traffic quickly backed up to Texas 161 while eastbound delays stretched toward central and west Arlington. Drivers were diverted off the highway while others were encouraged to avoid the area until the scene was cleared.

No injuries were reported.
