Houston McDonald's Owner Fatally Shot in Holdup Attempt

Houston police say the owner of a Houston McDonald's restaurant has been shot and killed during an attempted robbery.

Authorities say 68-year-old Carroll Oliver was gunned down as he was heading to a bank in what someone may have known was his morning routine.

Police told Houston NBC affiliate KPRC that a white SUV pulled into the parking lot off Interstate 10 on Houston's east side, approached the store owner and someone from inside the truck tried to rob him.

Water says Oliver was armed, pulled his weapon, and then was shot Monday morning when someone inside the SUV opened fire.

Police didn't know if the robbers fled with any cash or how many people were involved.
