Houston-Based Landry's Restaurant Chain Reports Data Breach

The Landry's Inc. restaurant chain released new information Monday related to a breach of customer data first reported in December 2015 involving unauthorized charges at some of its more than 500 properties.

Most of the restaurants affected are in the Houston area, but there are several in North Texas also affected by the breach. Monday, the company released a list of restaurants affected.

A majority of the affected restaurants appear to have been compromised between May and December of 2015.

Houston-based Landry's said in December it tightened security with an enhanced payment system to better encrypt card data.

Landry's said the company received reports of unauthorized charges on certain payment cards that were legitimately used at eateries.

Landry's advises customers who used the company's payment system to monitor their card accounts.

Landry's has more than 50 brands, including Landry's Seafood, Chart House, Saltgrass Steak House, Claim Jumper, Morton's The Steakhouse, McCormick & Schmick's and Rainforest Cafe.
