Houston-Area Deputy Charged in Drug Case

A Houston-area law enforcement officer has been charged with stealing drugs from dealers and then selling the contraband while on patrol.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says an undercover investigation led to the arrest of Deputy Christopher Ellis, who's indefinitely suspended.

Jail records show Ellis was being held Wednesday on two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. No attorney was listed for Ellis, who was booked Monday with bond set at $120,000.

Records show the 31-year-old Ellis, who's been with the sheriff's office since 2010, was a patrol officer and was arrested while on duty.

Prosecutors say Ellis confiscated drugs from dealers and then was nabbed after allegedly selling the illegal items to an undercover officer.
