Authorities say a 6-year-old boy has died after being struck in the head by a bullet that came through the wall of his family's Houston-area apartment from an adjacent unit.
The boy was pronounced dead Thursday night after being taken by helicopter to an area hospital.
Harris County sheriff's deputies say five people from a neighboring apartment were detained for questioning in the shooting.
After the bullet hit the boy in the upper head, his mother discovered him and called authorities.
