Hit-And-Run Crash Kills Dallas Film Critic

Dallas police are trying to find the driver who hit Dallas film critic Gary Murray and fled the scene late Friday night.

Police believe a pick up truck hit Murray as he tried to cross Mockingbird Lane near U.S. 75 Central Expressway.

Murray later died of his injuries at Baylor Medical Center.

Murray founded the North Texas Film Critics Association. His bio page said he made his first movie at age 8 and later attended the University of Texas in Austin.

Murray covered the Dallas International Film Festival earlier on Friday night. Fellow critics said he will be missed.

"Gary was one of those old-fashioned print guys," said Dev Shapiro, Selig Film News. "He's an old-fashioned journalist. He came from film criticism in print originally back in the 80's then moved on to online. It's a rare breed you can't find today."
