Heavy Weekend Traffic in North Fort Worth for Air Show, Tanger Outlets

Expect heavy traffic this weekend in Fort Worth between Texas Motor Speedway and Alliance Airport.

"If you talk about a perfect storm, this is the perfect storm," said Fort Worth police officer Jimmy Pollozani.

The Bell Helicopter Forth Worth Alliance Air Show begins at 11 a.m. Saturday, and the newly opened Tanger Outlets mall near State Highway 114 and Interstate 35W is attracting crowds on its first weekend.

"It's going to be absolutely insane," said Brittani Goodson, who lives nearby in Justin, and went shopping at Tanger Outlets Friday to beat the weekend traffic.

"Our traffic, it's already starting to pick up a lot, but between this and the air show, it'll be crazy," Goodson said.

Tanger Outlets hired extra people for the weekend to direct traffic in the parking lots, and dozens of Fort Worth police officers will be working near both locations to keep traffic moving.

"It's a very busy weekend for us," Pollozani said.

The air show expects nearly 100,000 people at Alliance Airport over the weekend.

"Pay attention to our social media, we've got the road closures, we've got routes to general admission and premium parking, definitely go on line in advance and buy parking," said Christina Carey, special project manager for the Alliance Air Show.

People who live nearby are being urged to avoid the area if possible and use back roads when possible.
